Tony Stewart Racing’s World of Outlaws and USAC Champion Drivers to Appear at Las Vegas J.D. Byrider on March 1.

Tony Stewart Racing’s Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz, Levi Jones and Bryan Clauson will appear at the J.D. Byrider in Las Vegas on Tuesday, March 1 from 5-7 p.m., PST.

Kinser and Schatz will be in town to compete in the “World of Outlaws Nationals presented by J.D. Byrider” at The Dirt Track @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The two-night program includes consecutive World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series programs on Wednesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 3.

This unique opportunity allows customers the chance to meet all four TSR drivers during the visit.

J.D. Byrider has dubbed the event the “Tony Stewart Racing Hauler Showcase” as, in addition to the appearance by the Tony Stewart Racing drivers, the dealership will host two 53-foot race haulers on location. Each transporter will be open for public view.

KOMP-92.3FM will be broadcasting live from J.D. Byrider from 5-7 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to win a pair of tickets for each night of the World of Outlaws Nationals presented by J.D. Byrider, the Sam’s Town 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race on March 5, and the Kobalt Tools 400 for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on March 6.

Schatz and Kinser have each won six feature events at the half-mile Dirt Track at LVMS. Schatz, a four-time World of Outlaws champion, won the 2009 Outlaw feature at LVMS. Kinser, a 20-time World of Outlaws champion, last won at LVMS in March 2005, when he scored a two-race sweep. Kinser opened the 2011 World of Outlaws season with a pair of victories at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL, earlier this month.

The 2011 season continues the 14-year relationship between TSR and J.D. Byrider.

Start! The New Year Right—Resolve To Get Healthier. American Heart Association’s free Start! resources make it easy

In Indiana, home to J.D. Byrider Corporate Headquarters, nearly 3 million Hoosiers are either overweight or obese.   There are similar statistics all across America. Many people will resolve to get healthier in the New Year, including eating better and exercising more. One of the best resources to stay on track for lasting change is the American Heart Association’s free Start! program available at www.startwalkingnow.org.
Start! encourages a culture of physical activity through walking, an easy form of exercise that has the lowest dropout rate.

Other benefits of walking include:

•    Walking an extra 20 minutes a day will burn off 7 pounds of body fat each year.

•    Walking on a regular basis increases bone density, decreases mental stress, and improves circulation.

•    Physical activity reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, colon cancer, dying prematurely.

The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous physical activity, however, less than one-third of Hoosiers engage in regular physical activity.

“Physically inactive people are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease because their blood vessels shrink in size and it takes less cholesterol to create a serious blockage,” said Dr. Ed Harlamert, president and CEO of Heart Partners of Indiana, which is part of Clarian Cardiovascular. “That’s why exercise is so important – among its many benefits, blood flow opens up your arteries and can actually help to diminish the degree of any blockages you might have.”

There are other statistics and recommendations that can help you make the decision to “start” living healthier.  The average American works 164 hours more hours per year today than 20 years ago. And, more of today’s jobs are performed in sedentary positions – in front of computers, in long commutes or long-distance business travel. It’s almost necessary to force yourself to get up and move to get the exercise you need. Fortunately, walking is one of the easiest things to do. So, get up from your desk and walk around your office. Park farther away when you go to the mall or grocery store. Take the aisle rather than the people-mover.

The association also recommends adults eat five servings of fruits or vegetables per day – something only 23 percent of Hoosiers say they do. Think about your own eating habits, wherever YOU are – do YOU eat five servings of fruits or vegetables a day? Maybe it’s time to “start”!

At www.startwalkingnow.org, you can learn more about the Start! program. There is information for improving both diet and exercise, including:

•    Diet & Lifestyle Recommendations
•    Grocery List Builder
•    Nutrition Database & Facts
•    Motivational Tips
•    Walking Tips
•    Injury Prevention Tips
•    Goal Setting
•    Weight Control
•    Holiday Healthy Eating Booklet , and more

Start! is sponsored nationally by Subway and in locally by J.D. Byrider, Clarian Cardiovascular and American Health Network.

J.D. Byrider works with the The Michigan Youth Opportunity To Assist Young Adults

Michelle Herbert, J.D. Byrider Sales Consultant in Traverse City, MI shares her story with us about The Michigan Youth Opportunity Initiative taking place in partnership with her J.D. Byrider Dealership.

The Michigan Youth Opportunity Initiative is a non-profit organization that assist young people who are aging out of the foster care system by providing them with mentoring, support, education and introducing them to resources in their community that can help them to be successful in their new independent lives.

Every 6 months a group of these young people and their advisers meet in our showroom , have pop and pizza, and then listen to our presentation on the ins and outs of purchasing a used vehicle.  My General Manager, Tom Holt, does a presentation about what to look for when purchasing a used vehicle from a dealership or a private owner. He advises them to have it looked at by a certified mechanic prior to purchase and reminds them that after they purchase a vehicle, the out pour of money does not stop there.  We discuss the cost of gas, insurance, repairs and maintenance and the importance of keeping their car in good working condition.  I’m up next with the introduction to J.D. Byrider and how our program can help them not only purchase a reliable, affordable first vehicle, but how it can help them to take that ever important first step into the world of credit and the positive effect that it can have on the rest of their lives.

We scheduled 2 hours for our first meeting.  I have got to tell you, we did not plan a good turnout, and weren’t really sure if anyone would ask a question, so filling the full 2 hours seemed as if it would be impossible!  However, once we got the kids involved, they asked a lot of good questions, told some great stories and really walked away with a lot of information that they felt they could use.  The meeting ended up lasting 3 hours and everyone was happy that they attended.

As an added bonus, we extend to the youth the ability to call us at anytime with any questions that they may have, call us with a vin number and we can run an Auto Check for them on the vehicle at no charge, or if they need to have a car inspected we are open to helping them with that also.

Meeting with these young people has been a very rewarding experience.  They are interested and interesting.  They have had experience in their young lives that most of us would not wish on our worst enemy, yet they come to the meetings smiling, and ready to learn.  Sure the pizza and pop are free, but after the munching is done, the information that we provide them will serve them well for a life time.  I am proud to be a part of their transition to independence.

(Marietta, OH, October 27, 2010) J.D. Byrider has donated a 2005 Ford Taurus to the Memorial Health System Health Foundation for use in the hospital’s Driver Rehabilitation program. The program’s goal is to determine whether it is safe for a driver to continue driving following an injury or illness.

“We are proud to participate with the Memorial Health Foundation in supporting this innovative and important program for the community,” said Mark Morris, JD Byrider General Manager. “This program is a unique opportunity that is changing lives and restoring personal freedom and mobility to people between Zanesville, Ohio and Charleston, West Virginia.

We value the services the Foundation provides and the great heart their staff exhibit to each person in this program. ”

“This donation is so much appreciated,” said Rick Headley, certified driver rehabilitation specialist (CDRS) and therapist at Marietta Memorial Hospital. “Our program plays an important role in recovery whether is to encourage those who are able to learn to drive again; identify those who may need additional assistance before they can drive; or identify those who can no longer drive a vehicle. The vehicle will be modified to meet patient’s driving needs.”

J.D. Byrider’s donation includes maintenance and servicing to the car as needed, at no cost to the Foundation for the life of the car. Putnam Auto Sales, Marietta Mobility and Performance Mobility are all also contributing goods or services to ensure the new student driver vehicle is running well and adapted to the needs of the patients.

“Community donations, whether goods and services such as those given by J.D. Byrider, Putnam Auto Sales, Marietta Mobility and Performance Mobility, or an outright financial donation;  are the backbone of the Memorial Health System ,” said Memorial Health Foundation Executive Director Jacky Miner. “They help us to provide outstanding health care services here at home.”

Marietta Memorial Hospital’s Driver Rehabilitation Program is state licensed through Ohio’s Department of Public Health and is also a member of the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED). Evaluations and adaptive driver training are conducted by a certified driver rehabilitation specialist and occupational therapist.

About the Memorial Health System: The Memorial Health System encompasses two hospitals, a nursing home, occupational health program, a retirement community, physician group and Foundation; all working to ensure local access to healthcare for you and your family.

How to Get the Down Payment You Need to Get a Better Car

If you’re in the market for a newer, better car, but can’t get approved for financing, J.D. Byrider may have a program for you. You can use the money from your upcoming Tax Refund to help you get the car and financing you need. Simply take your most recent pay stub to the nearest J.D. Byrider.  We can calculate what your 2010 refund should be and use that to work out a deal that could allow you to get approved for financing and provide the money you need for your down payment. The result is that you could be on road in a better car…today!

It’s really a simple program and it can be extremely helpful for people who have credit problems and are a little short of cash. We prepare a personal budget for each prospective customer. If you’re approved, we can show you how you could use your tax refund to help with your down payment, lower your total monthly payment, get a lower interest rate and even have money left over for other needs.

Our program sources tell us that our average “tax deal” customer receives a refund of almost $5000. That means you could put $2000 down and still have $3000 left to put towards other expenses. If the program works right, you’ll be driving a better car and you could be in position to begin improving your credit.

If you really need a newer vehicle now, but were planning to wait until you get your Tax Refund…don’t. Come see us at J.D. Byrider today and let’s see if we can get you back on the road. Our Tax program has been very successful for thousands of people just like you.

A New Order for CPR Spelled C-A-B

DALLAS, Oct. 18, 2010 – The American Heart Association is re-arranging the ABCs of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in its 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care, published in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.

Recommending that chest compressions be the first step for lay and professional rescuers to revive victims of sudden cardiac arrest, the association said the A-B-Cs (Airway-Breathing-Compressions) of CPR should now be changed to C-A-B (Compressions-Airway-Breathing).

“For more than 40 years, CPR training has emphasized the ABCs of CPR, which instructed people to open a victim’s airway by tilting their head back, pinching the nose and breathing into the victim’s mouth, and only then giving chest compressions,” said Michael Sayre, M.D., co-author of the guidelines and chairman of the American Heart Association’s Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Committee. “This approach was causing significant delays in starting chest compressions, which are essential for keeping oxygen-rich blood circulating through the body. Changing the sequence from A-B-C to C-A-B for adults and children allows all rescuers to begin chest compressions right away.”

In previous guidelines, the association recommended looking, listening and feeling for normal breathing before starting CPR. Now, compressions should be started immediately on anyone who is unresponsive and not breathing normally.

Voting is rare priviledge. Do it if you can.

The next time you see a “political” ad on TV, try not to change the channel or turn a deaf ear…or even be suspicious. Rather, consider it a reminder that YOU have the precious right to cast a vote. That’s not something that exists around the globe. It IS one of the byproducts of what our ancestors fought for in setting up a democratic society. So, think about what the national, state and local elections can mean to you.

In a little less than a month people will have the right to vote to decide the governor of their state, other state officials, other legislators such as county commissioners, city councilmen, mayors and more. These are the people who can create policies that will affect your town, your job, your country, your taxes and more.

Voting provides one conduit through which you can express your opinion on many issues. It also allows you to participate in determining who gets to hold the reins of power. Those elected  will be able to determine policies on critical topics such as education…something that will have a bearing on shaping the future of our children, which will, ultimately, shape our country itself.

Other critical issues such as taxes, highways, health care will also be determined by those you elect. Don’t let just anybody take over these powers without exercising your right to vote. This is your chance to help keep our democracy healthy. Exercise your right. Get out and vote.

J.D. BYRIDER TAKES IT TO THE STREETS OF MADISON

Madison, Indiana – On a tour of the Service Department at most J.D. Byrider dealerships, one can’t help but notice the large banners stating, “Customer”, “Service”, “Honesty”, “Integrity”, “Respect” and “Skill”. These are words that Byrider associates and technicians live by daily. They’re part of  the Values of J.D. Byrider, a company committed to providing good cars for people who need credit.

On Saturday, October 9th, J.D. Byrider took its message of “honesty” to Main Street in downtown Madison by participating in the annual “Soup, Stew, Chili & Brew” celebration of food and music. Managing Partner, John Eldridge, brewed up some honest-to-goodness Tony Stewart 5 Alarm Chili that may or may not have included aged Tony Stewart Salsa and Tony Stewart Barbeque sauce as core ingredients. John’s secret ingredients that revved up the temperature “will remain my secret”, said Eldridge with a smile. “This day was really not about MY chili”, said Eldrige.

“It  was just a great day in Madison, and a great way for us to get our brand out in front of the people,” he continued. We’re here to help those people who cannot get financed by traditional dealerships or lenders. We don’t approve everyone who walks in, but we do offer a program that allows people to get back on the road with a better car, an affordable payment, and better car care. We try to put them in the position so they can improve their credit. At this event, we were able to spice up our incredible 95% Customer Satisfaction story with a little fun. It was just awesome to participate in this Madison Area Chamber of Commerce event, and enjoy all of the rest of the people who did, too.”

J.D. Byrider was the sponsor of the Best Firehouse Chili Award, which went to Clifty 6 Firehouse. “It was AT LEAST 6 alarm chili!”, Eldridge said. “They definitely deserved the award.”
When asked about the appearance of Tony Stewart at the Byrider booth  Eldridge smiled and replied, “I have to be honest…it’s not really him.” Duh, thanks for that honesty, John.
