Luck has a way of finding you in Las Vegas. Tony Stewart Racing’s Steve Kinser entered this week’s two-night Las Vegas World of Outlaws (WoO) Nationals presented by J.D. Byrider hoping to continue his incredible start to the 2011 WoO campaign, while his TSR teammate, Donny Schatz, was seeking a change in fortune after struggling in the first five races. The cards turned out in the favor the TSR contingent was aiming for as Kinser raced to victory in Thursday night’s 30-lap A-Feature finale, while Schatz parlayed a strong third-place finish in Wednesday night’s opener with a charge for 12th to third on Thursday night. The wild card of the program was the results of two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Tony Stewart, who jumped in a third TSR entry and raced his way to 10th-place finish in Thursday night’s 30-lap A-Feature finale.

Kinser is off to one his best career starts in WoO competition, winning four of the first seven main events. In his second season driving the TSR No. 11 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider/ Chevy Maxim, “The King of the Outlaws” is setting a blistering pace. Following Wednesday night’s 10th-place finish, Kinser was determined to be a factor throughout the night on Thursday. He earned his first fast qualifier award of 2011 by turning a lap of 15.119 seconds around the half-mile dirt oval. He finished second in the dash and took advantage of his outside front row starting position in the 30-lap main event by grabbing the lead at the drop of the green. The 20-time WoO champion set a terrific pace in the race, which was only slowed by a pair of late caution flags. In the end, he fought a last lap challenge from Joey Saldana, Wednesday night’s winner, and Schatz, to score his seventh win at the Las Vegas oval and 566th career WoO A-Feature win.

“Any win is a good win, but you always like to be the guy standing here at the end of the night,” admitted Kinser, who added to his point lead with the triumph. “We didn’t have a very good night on Wednesday. We got involved in a couple of crashes and ended up hurting a car, so the Bass Pro Shops crew worked hard all day putting a new one together. It’s a really fast car and this is a great way to thank them. We also wanted to do well for everybody involved with this Tony Stewart Racing team. Tony’s been racing with us and we had some people from J.D. Byrider here. It’s always nice to do well when the people making this all possible are here to enjoy it with you.”

Schatz ventured to Las Vegas looking for a change of luck after scoring only one top-five finish in the season’s first five races. He quickly served notice that the TSR No. 15 STP/Armor All/Chevy J&J was going to be a factor. In Wednesday’s qualifying session, Schatz turned the fastest lap of the night to capture his first fast time award of the season. He would later finish second in the dash and challenged eventual winner Joey Saldana in Wednesday’s 30-lap A-Feature, before eventually finishing third.

Wednesday’s results were building blocks for a strong run on Thursday night for Schatz. An early qualifying slot hindered his chances at a second straight top qualifier award, and he ended up14th overall. The results of qualifying earned Schatz a mid-pack starting position in Thursday’s main event. The four-time WoO champion made one of his patented charges during the first 20 laps of the race. He worked his way up to third and made several bids for second. With three laps to go a caution bunched the field, Schatz restarted third and continued his battle for second with Saldana and Sammy Swindell. On the final restart, he made a final run at Saldana and Kinser, but couldn’t make the low groove work and he followed the duo to the finish line.

“We made some progress and will take a couple top-three runs,” said Schatz.  “I don’t know if we needed the late yellows either night. It seemed like we were closing in on Joey the first night, and tonight I was coming to Steve and Sammy. Maybe the lapped traffic would have played into our favor. It didn’t work out that way, so we’ll take what we got and keep working until we get that first win.”

The mid-week races provided Stewart, who is in town to compete in Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 400, the chance to join his TSR drivers in action with the World of Outlaws for the first time since last July. He was fast behind the wheel of the TSR No. 11 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider/ Chevy Maxim topping the speed charts in several practice sessions. In Wednesday’s program, he timed in sixth overall, but only completed four laps in the main event after a mechanical problem forced him to end his race prematurely. The following night, he went out extremely early and didn’t quite make the lap he hoped to and ended up 16th fastest. A fifth-place finish in the first heat earned the Columbus, Ind., native the 16th-starting spot in Thursday’s finale. He ran a smooth race, working his way forward to finish 10th.

The results of the Las Vegas World of Outlaws Nationals presented by J.D. Byrider improved Kinser’s lead in the 2011 WoO championship standings. He has 1018 points and leads Saldana by 35 markers. Schatz remains sixth in the standings and trails Kinser by 93 points. The TSR teams will return to action on Saturday, March 12 at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., for the Mini Gold Cup Race of Champions.

How to Choose a Buy Here Pay Here Car Dealer

Credit problems are nothing new. Ever since the concept of “buying on time” was introduced, there have been people who have had trouble making their payments. The result is that those who “on credit” end up imposing a finance charge- interest on the unpaid balance. As more and more people developed sloppy payment habits, the sellers (or lenders) were forced to raise the interest rates they charged. Interest became a function of risk. The higher the risk, the higher the interest rate. Systems and regulations were put in place to monitor the amount of interest that was fair and to track consumers’ rick factor based on their payment history.

Even with credit problems, consumers need transportation. Banks, credit unions, auto manufacturers and other traditional lenders have avoided the higher risk markets and have not been wiling to finance those with credit problems. Thus, the “buy here pay here” industry was born. Thousands of independent dealers opened lots across the country at which consumers could purchase a used car and get financed at a higher interest rate. For many, buy here pay here car lots have been their road back to a promising financial future.

When choosing a buy here pay here car dealer, look at these key things:

1. Better quality cars that have undergone a comprehensive inspection and are backed by a warranty.

2. A dealer who is willing to analyze your financial situation and help establish a budget and an affordable payment.

3. A company that’s willing to stand behind the vehicles it sells by providing service protection programs and affordable service after the sale.

J.D. Byrider specializes in providing good cars for people who need credit. After 20 years in the business, we’ve sold nearly 900,000 vehicles across the country. Winter Driving and Maintenance Tips

In much of the United States, winter weather conditions can have an impact on your car’s performance, and on the way it should be driven. If you live in a part of the country that’s impacted by winter weather, or if you plan to travel there, start with preparing your vehicle properly.

Make sure your heating and cooling system is working properly. Have your radiator drained, flushed and topped off with fresh coolant/antifreeze. Have your oil and oil filter changed. Have your air filter changed. Have your battery tested and replace it if necessary. Have your alternator and all belts checked.

Make sure your tires have plenty of tread and are properly inflated. Also, check to make sure your wheels are properly balanced and aligned. While you’re checking your tires, locate your spare, as well as your jack. You should also make sure you have roadside emergency kit.

It’s always a good idea to carry a special winter travel safety kit that includes a cell phone, an ice scraper and brush, cat litter (for use as a traction aid), blankets, a good flashlight, a candle, matches, a good book, a portable weather radio and a can of lock de-icer – don’t use hot water on glass or locks as it can refreeze and create a bigger problem.

When driving in snowy conditions, slow down. A good rule of thumb is to reduce speed by 50 percent. But, don’t slow down too much – your vehicle needs momentum to carry it through snow on grades. Keep a light touch on the controls. Smooth operation is the key to keeping control in slippery situations. Nervousness can lead to a hard clench of the steering wheel, which can result in loss of control. Consciously loosen your grasp or stretch out your fingers from time to time to help prevent that white-knuckled grip.

Know how to recover from skids. When braking on a slippery road, it’s all too easy to “lock up” your wheels by stepping on the brakes a little too hard. If you start to skid, steer the vehicle gently in the direction you want the front of your vehicle to go and don’t touch your brakes. This used to be called “turning into the skid,” but tests have shown that drivers often misinterpret these words in real-life situations.

If you get stuck, stay in your vehicle. Stay warm and wait for assistance. Make sure that your exhaust pipe is clear of any obstructions, including snow and ice; if you don’t, carbon monoxide gas can build up inside the vehicle.

If you’re planning a longer trip, make sure you know your route and keep abreast of the weather conditions. Also, eat enough food and drink plenty of water. Take extra food and water along.

Buying a Used Car Can Help Improve Your Credit Score

If you have poor credit (or no credit, for that fact), but you need a vehicle to get to work, you should look for a way to finance a good used car. Buying a used vehicle on credit can be a very smart move because it can allow you to get to work to earn the money you need to live. And, it can allow you to establish a history of making payments on time. That, along with steady payment of all of your bills (such as utilities, rent, phone, credit cards, etc.) can result in improving your credit score.

But, buying a used car can be difficult because the shopping experience is different from that of a new car. With new cars, you’re not usually questioning the condition of the vehicle. After all, they’re NEW. But, if you have poor credit and can’t pay cash for that new car, your shopping choices can be limited. Although, you should realize that you do still have choices.

If you simply want transportation, you can simply pay cash for an inexpensive vehicle. But that won’t help in improving your credit rating. You could visit any one of a number of dealerships that specialize in financing people with less-than-perfect credit. Be careful when dealing with these establishments. They all charge a higher interest rate for their financing, so you should thoroughly check out the kind of program they offer.

Basically, “buy here, pay here” dealers sell used cars to people who cannot get financing at new car dealerships.  Even though you might be one of those “credit-challenged” people, you should still check out the dealer thoroughly. Make sure you’re able to discern the condition of the vehicle in which you’re interested. Cars in good condition are of higher value than cheaper ones. And, if you’re fortunate enough to find one in good condition, you can be just as satisfied as if you bought a new car.

If you’re looking to buy a good used car with confidence, you should check out J.D. Byrider because they specialize in selling good cars to people who need credit. After 20 years in business, Byrider has sold nearly 900,000 vehicles. They’ve kept tabs on what vehicles to buy so they can provide their customers with dependable vehicles.

Every vehicle undergoes a Comprehensive Inspection and is backed by a limited warranty. Additionally, J.D. Byrider Service Departments provide assistance by skilled, trained technicians to Byrider customers only.

Additionally, all payments are reported to the three major credit bureaus. That is extremely important because, by sticking to the affordable budget and making payments on time, customers can actually see their credit rating improve and, perhaps, find themselves in the position to purchase a new car the next time they’re in the market!

J.D. Byrider was founded in 1989 to provide a program that exceeds the customer’s expectations and maximizes their opportunity for advancement. According to JDBFacts.com, where Byrider posts its Customer Satisfaction Ratings, the Sales Satisfaction Rating is 96% and the Service Satisfaction Rating is 90%.

J.D. Byrider Kart Racing Team Finishes 4th in 200 Mile Endurance Race

Carmel, Indiana- Yesterday, JD Byrider Kart Racing Team Drivers Ron Petersen and Colton Aldridge piloted their JD Byrider / Tony Stewart Racing / Eldora Speedway sponsored 125cc TaG Kart to a fine 4th place finish in the “6th Annual Mazda Robo-Pong 200 Presented by Bridgestone” at Mark Dismore’s New Castle Motorsports Park. This race, commonly referred to as “The Indy 500 of Karting”, brings racers from all over the U.S. and several other countries to this central Indiana venue.

On Saturday in qualifying, against 46 other karts, Colton put the team in 6th position for the Sunday event. Colton started the race and avoided a first lap incident that damaged the karts of Dan Wheldon and Conor Daly.

Although the leader at the time pulled out to a nice lead, Colton raced bumper-to-bumper with 2nd and 3rd place drivers, IndyCar veterans Ed Carpenter and Jay Howard. At 54 laps, in 3rd position, the team made their first pit stop for fuel and a driver change. Ron drove the next segment and pitted at lap 101 in 4th place. Colton took over and got the team to 2nd behind Ed Carpenter at lap 109. Ron jumped back in at lap 150 with the team maintaining 2nd position through the pit stop. It was near the time of this pit stop when the kart developed a huge push in the corners. Ron struggled with the ill-handling kart and was forced to pit at lap 171 in 4th place with the front tires worn to the cords. After replacing the front tires, Colton took over and got back on the track in 5th place. The 4th place team pitted, moving Colton to 4th, and he passed the 3rd place team on lap 180.

By lap 193, with the handling issue slowing the kart, the 4th place team had caught and passed him. With 5th position well behind him, Colton cruised the last few laps and posted the 4th place finish, with the front tires, again, worn to the cords. Ed Carpenter and his teammate posted a flawless race to take the win by 2 laps.

After the race, during the engine teardown in tech inspection, the team discovered that the chassis of the kart had broken under the seat, causing the evil handling of the kart. Despite the problem, the team was very happy with the results and $2,500 4th place purse. Also, for the 5th consecutive year, in a race that is brutally hard on equipment, the JD Byrider Team Kart has not only been running at the end, but finished “in-the-money”.

Tony Stewart Wins at Legendary Eldora

Tony Stewart won his own dirt-track charity race in dominating fashion on Wednesday, September 9.  Stewart overtook Kenny Wallace on the 13th lap and never looked back to capture the Gillette Young Guns Prelude to a Dream for the second year in a row.

Joey Logano had some trouble with his #20 Home Depot car, so he jumped into the #14 J.D. Byrider car (as shown below) in which Stewart had won a feature earlier in the year at Paducah, Kentucky.

The race, which drew more than 23,000 fans to Eldora, was broadcast live on HBO Pay-Per-View® with proceeds from the telecast supporting four military-themed charities – Wounded Warrior Project, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Operation Homefront and Fisher House. Each has a mission that outlines assistance to the courageous men and women who serve their country and need additional support both during and after their time of service.

“All these drivers who took time out of their schedule to come to Eldora – not once, but twice – I just can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done,” said Stewart, owner of Eldora Speedway.  “That’s what this race is about. We all get to have fun and drive dirt cars, but it’s a lot deeper and bigger cause than that.”
