J.D. Byrider Night of Speed

J.D. Byrider was, again, the title sponsor of the J.D. Byrider Night of Speed during the Kroger Speed Fest. Thursday, July 23, saw O’Reilly Raceway Park in Clermont, Indiana, play host to two United States Auto Club (USAC) open-wheel events. Despite a little interference from the weather, over 10,000 fans were treated to a thrilling 30-lap USAC Midget Series feature followed by a 100-lap USAC Silver Crown Series feature. The Silver Crown race was won by Bobby Santos III. The Midget race was won by Bryan Clausen.

Earlier in the evening, Tony Stewart made an appearance at the J.D. Byrider hospitality tent. About 800 J.D. Byrider associates, franchisees and guests were treated to a special question and answer period, hosted by popular radio air personality, Dave “The King” Wilson. Tony signed autographs and met with enthusiastic fans. It was a very exciting evening!

Adding to the excitement of the evening was a special event involving the Tony Stewart Foundation (TSF), benefiting the Indiana Canine Assistance Network (ICAN). ICAN trains and places assistance dogs with Hoosier children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities, while also providing job and life skills to offenders in three Indiana prisons who train the dogs for service work. Back on April 14, Tony was able to meet 2 ICAN kids – Caleb & Sydney — and their dogs – Declan & Kiefer.

Since Tony has such a soft spot in his heart for kids and animals, TSF got involved. On June 14, a litter of 9 pups was born to Cleo, a golden retriever assistance dog. TSF launched a contest among Tony’s fans to name the puppies and make sure they found homes with kids who needed them.
Visitors to Smoke’s Pup Crew were able to watch the pups’ progress, submit names for consideration and make a donation to TSF.

The puppies were all in attendance, enabling the crowd to see and visit with them first-hand. Then it was time to reveal the winning names. As Tony carefully held each puppy, Dave “The King” Wilson revealed their names. Check out these photos!

J.D. Byrider would like to personally thank Tony Stewart, The Tony Stewart Foundation, ICAN, USAC and O’Reilly Raceway Park for their dedication to and hard work in bringing together such a fabulous evening for fans and friends alike. “It was a golden (no pun intended) opportunity for our associates, franchisees and friends to see the caring, compassionate side of Tony Stewart,” said Jim England, president of the J.D. Byrider Advertising Group, Inc. “Everyone in the tent was practically on sensory overload. As if the thrill of being with good friends, meeting Tony and getting and autograph weren’t enough, we all got to meet the puppies and some of the kids who truly need assistance dogs. I’m so proud of Tony, and our relationship with him. And I want to thank everyone at Stewart Haas Racing, Tony Stewart Racing, the Tony Stewart Foundation and J.D. Byrider for making this evening possible.

Byrider Racing team mate Steve Barnett, both ran well that evening, finishing first and third respectively in their early heat race. In the 25-lap feature, Stewart took the lead on lap one and proceeded to lead every lap. “It’s good to get a win at this track and in

Barnett worked his way up from fifth to third, but was slowed by lapped traffic on the final lap and wound up fifth. “I’m excited about the way our J.D. Byrider team cars ran tonight,” Barnett said. I should’ve had third, but this effort will make the drive home a lot happier.”

J.D. Byrider has sponsored Tony Stewart in a dirt late model since 1997, and the relationship has grown to also include an associate sponsorship on the Tony Stewart Racing owned #20 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider Chevy World of Outlaws sprint car driven by Kraig Kinser. Byrider is als

o involved on Stewart’s three other open-wheel race teams that compete in the World of Outlaws and USAC Sprint and Midget series.

“We changed the design of our car this year, along with the look of Tony’s firesuit, to fit with Tony’s transition to being an owner-driver on the NASCAR level. We even changed the number on our car to 14, to provide continuity with the Stewart-Haas Racing team’

s #14 sponsored by Office Depot and Old Spice,” said Jim England, president of The J.D. Byrider Advertising Group, Inc. “Tonight was the first time he’s raced our new design and it’s great to get a win. I take my hat off to Tony and the people in his organizations for having

done such a fantastic job of building great relationships with great brands such as Coca-Cola, Bass Pro Shops, Armor All, Chevy, and others. The teams at Stewart-Haas Racing and Tony Stewart Racing are loaded with quality people and we’re proud to be part of the program.”

J.D. Byrider, celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year, specializes in providing good cars for people who need credit.

J.D. Byrider Leads National Start! Walking Day

J.D. Byrider leads National Start! Walking Day April 8, 2009 in Indianapolis!
Jim England, Chairman of the 2009 Start! Heart Walk, kicked off the ceremonies on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis.

What is National Start! Walking Day ?

  • National Start! Walking Day, April 8, 2009, was a call-to-action for Americans to Start! getting healthy by incorporating at least 30 minutes of walking into their day.
  • Wednesday, April 8, was officially designated as “National Start! walking at work day”. It was part of the American Heart Association’s Start! movement that encourages individuals to walk more and corporations to promote wellness at work.
  • National Start! Walking Day focuses on walking as an activity because it’s accessible, free and has the lowest dropout rate of any type of exercise.
  • Most Americans work in sedentary occupations and spend more hours at work than ever before, and this can be a major obstacle to finding time for physical activity.

Walking/Physical Inactivity Stats & Tips

  • Physical inactivity is a major risk factor for heart disease and is a comparable risk to other modifiable risk factors such as high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure and smoking.
  • Heart disease and stroke continue to be the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers; 66 percent of U.S. adults are overweight.
  • Walking for as little as 30 minutes a day will help people improve their circulation; reduce stress and anxiety; increase enthusiasm and optimism; improve muscle tone and strength; lower cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure; and promote weight loss.
  • Walking during the day is as simple as parking farther away from your office, taking the stairs, walking to lunch, or hopping off the bus/subway/train a stop or two earlier.

What is Start?

  • The focus of the Start! campaign is simple: Walk more. Eat well. Live longer.
  • Walking was chosen as the primary activity because it’s inexpensive: no need to join a health club or gym, or purchase expensive home exercise equipment. Simply lace up a good pair of walking shoes and have at it!
  • MyStart! Online, a Web-based fitness and nutrition tracker, is the hub of the Start! movement that offers constant, measurable, personal improvement. Visit heart.org/start to register.
  • Be sure to register for the Indianapolis Start! Heart Walk, scheduled for Saturday, September 19th at White River State Park Celebration Plaza.  The Start! Heart Walk, a premier fundraiser for the American Heart Association, gives people an opportunity to improve their health through walking while helping fund the fight against heart disease and stroke.
  • Start! is sponsored nationally by SUBWAY® Restaurants, Healthy Choice®  and AstraZeneca.  Start! is sponsored locally by J.D. Byrider.  Jim DeVoe, Jr., J.D Byrider CEO and Jim England, president of the J.D. Byrider Advertising Group, Inc. both walked on treadmills, along with many other local business leaders and celebrities.

Finding a reliable used car

Buying a used car can be a better bargain than new cars in many ways, particularly when it comes to price and depreciation. Used cars tend to be more affordable to insure as well. And, unlike in a new car showroom, it’s possible to buy a used car that’s fully loaded at a price comparable to a basic model.

But what about reliability? New cars aren’t perfect – some models have problems immediately upon release. But for many consumers, particularly those with no mechanical expertise, buying a new car feels safer because there’s a lower chance of needing costly repairs right away.

No car is completely worry-free, including new cars. However, you can take steps to ensure that you buy a used car that’s reliable. One important way is to find out what process your prospective used car dealer uses to select cars. Are the dealer’s buyers selective, or do they turn over trades from all customers, no matter the condition of the vehicle?

Another important indicator is whether or not the dealer offers a branded title check. This service can help you determine whether or not the vehicle has been damaged previously.

Does your dealer sell cars on an “as-is” basis, or do customers get a warranty when buying a used car? And does the dealer provide service? Generally, dealers who stand behind the cars they sell and offer vehicle service are selling a higher quality used car.

If you’re thinking of buying a used car, find out more about J.D. Byrider. We offer quality vehicles backed by a warranty. We can also service your car. Visit us online to find the dealer nearest you.
