J.D. Byrider Execs Work With Heart

The American Heart Association Midwest Affiliate in Indianapolis, IN has named Jim England as Chairman of the Metropolitan Indianapolis Start! Heart Walk. England is president of the J.D. Byrider Advertising Group, Inc., the marketing and communications company for J.D. Byrider dealers across the country.

“This is a great honor for me”, England said. “I joined this company ten years ago because I had such admiration for the spirit of the people. There’s a lot of heart in the organization and now’s a great time to be involved with helping the American Heart Association.”

J.D. Byrider is involved with the Start! Heart Walk specifically because it’s an event in which most people can participate,” England continued. “Simply lace up a pair of shoes and start walking.”

“It provides us with an opportunity to send an educational message to our customers,” says Jim Devoe, Jr., Byrider CEO. “Heart health is important and our customers need to know about healthy diet and exercise choices.”

According to England, “the AHA provides statistics that support walking as a great form of exercise. Most of our customers have kids, and those kids need healthy parents around.”

DeVoe and England signed up to be “Sole Mates” at the kickoff of the 2009 National Start! Heart Walk event earlier in the year at New York City’s Grand Central Station. “Jim DeVoe, Sr. is the guy who initiated our involvement with AHA and I’m thrilled that I’ve been able to keep that commitment alive within our organization”, England said.

J.D. Byrider Designated as a Fit Friendly Company by American Heart Association

J.D. Byrider was recently designated as a Fit Friendly Company by the American Heart Association for encouraging its employees to walk at work, participate in the Start! Heart Walk, providing a fitness center, encouraging smoking cessation and offering healthier vending machine choices.

Through its relationship with The American Heart Association, J.D. Byrider recommends that consumers take time to put their hearts first. Studies show that for every 30 minutes of vigorous exercise (including walking), one can add two hours of life expectancy.

“Healthier people will make better, more helpful associates here at Byrider”, said Jim England, president of the J.D. Byrider Advertising Group, Inc. “That creates a friendlier environment for our customers. And, we’re taking that health message to our customers in the hope that better health will help them improve their lives and advance.”

Americans can get healthy benefits from walking without having to invest in club memberships or exercise equipment for their homes. Healthier people make better, more helpful, more productive employees.

At a time when the average employee works 164 more hours per year than they did twenty years ago, walking at work can provide the benefits of better health and stress relief. More people are employed in sedentary jobs these days. And, they have more to do outside the workplace that prevents them from getting enough exercise.

Walk breaks at work – before, during or after the work day begins – not only benefit employees but can also save employers money in health care costs.

J.D. Byrider Celebrates National Car Care Month

April was designated as National Car Care month. Many Americans took advantage of that information to perform spring “clean-ups” on their used vehicles. Performing services such as oil and filter changes, tire rotations, wheel balances, radiator drain & flushes, battery checks and more can extend the life of your used car. And, today’s good news is that, if you didn’t do it in April, you now have the month of May!

Take the time to service your vehicle…or have it serviced by a trained technician. If you happen to be a J.D. Byrider customer, you have the added benefit of a better car care program that includes a variety of warranties and/or extended service agreements — be sure to check with your Byrider dealer on which benefit you have with your vehicle. Byrider Service Departments are dedicated to serving our customers only, and the work is performed by trained, skilled technicians. For work performed outside the parameters of your service agreement, our labor rates are among the lowest in the neighborhood. We offer fair prices on quality parts and service to help save you money.

If you currently own a used car into which you’re unwilling to put more money, now may be the perfect time to see a J.D. Byrider dealer. We specialize in good cars for people who need credit. And, in celebration of our 20th anniversary, we’ve got over $20 Million of financing available.

Put J.D. Byrider on your shopping list. You could end up with a better car, an affordable payment and a better car care program…and the chance to improve your credit.

J.D. Byrider Leads National Start! Walking Day

J.D. Byrider leads National Start! Walking Day April 8, 2009 in Indianapolis!
Jim England, Chairman of the 2009 Start! Heart Walk, kicked off the ceremonies on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis.

What is National Start! Walking Day ?

  • National Start! Walking Day, April 8, 2009, was a call-to-action for Americans to Start! getting healthy by incorporating at least 30 minutes of walking into their day.
  • Wednesday, April 8, was officially designated as “National Start! walking at work day”. It was part of the American Heart Association’s Start! movement that encourages individuals to walk more and corporations to promote wellness at work.
  • National Start! Walking Day focuses on walking as an activity because it’s accessible, free and has the lowest dropout rate of any type of exercise.
  • Most Americans work in sedentary occupations and spend more hours at work than ever before, and this can be a major obstacle to finding time for physical activity.

Walking/Physical Inactivity Stats & Tips

  • Physical inactivity is a major risk factor for heart disease and is a comparable risk to other modifiable risk factors such as high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure and smoking.
  • Heart disease and stroke continue to be the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers; 66 percent of U.S. adults are overweight.
  • Walking for as little as 30 minutes a day will help people improve their circulation; reduce stress and anxiety; increase enthusiasm and optimism; improve muscle tone and strength; lower cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure; and promote weight loss.
  • Walking during the day is as simple as parking farther away from your office, taking the stairs, walking to lunch, or hopping off the bus/subway/train a stop or two earlier.

What is Start?

  • The focus of the Start! campaign is simple: Walk more. Eat well. Live longer.
  • Walking was chosen as the primary activity because it’s inexpensive: no need to join a health club or gym, or purchase expensive home exercise equipment. Simply lace up a good pair of walking shoes and have at it!
  • MyStart! Online, a Web-based fitness and nutrition tracker, is the hub of the Start! movement that offers constant, measurable, personal improvement. Visit heart.org/start to register.
  • Be sure to register for the Indianapolis Start! Heart Walk, scheduled for Saturday, September 19th at White River State Park Celebration Plaza.  The Start! Heart Walk, a premier fundraiser for the American Heart Association, gives people an opportunity to improve their health through walking while helping fund the fight against heart disease and stroke.
  • Start! is sponsored nationally by SUBWAY® Restaurants, Healthy Choice®  and AstraZeneca.  Start! is sponsored locally by J.D. Byrider.  Jim DeVoe, Jr., J.D Byrider CEO and Jim England, president of the J.D. Byrider Advertising Group, Inc. both walked on treadmills, along with many other local business leaders and celebrities.

Is it time to buy a car?

Are you thinking about buying a used car this year? If so, you’re not alone. Even with the economic downturn, millions of Americans are looking for quality used cars.

In fact, a leading used car website reported receiving a record 15 million unique site visitors in January alone. One explanation for the upswing in interest may be that in tough economic times, consumers are more likely to consider buying a used car.

A good used car can result in thousands of dollars of savings, not only on the original purchase price of the vehicle, but on the cost of insurance over the life of the car. New cars depreciate in value immediately after you drive them off the lot, but quality used cars can hold value well if properly maintained.

If you’re one of the millions of Americans who are considering a quality used car purchase, take a look at J.D. Byrider, a company that is committed to providing good cars for people who need credit. You can visit us online to find the dealer nearest you.

Nearly Half a Million Satisfied Customers Can’t be Wrong

As of today, used car dealer and auto financing provider J.D. Byrider has compiled results from more than 426,000 surveys about our customers’ experience with us. We’re proud to say that the consensus is overwhelmingly positive. In fact, 95% of surveyed customers rate their sales experience as positive.

But J.D. Byrider is different. Our unparalleled commitment to building relationships rather than just making sales is the key to our success – and to our high customer satisfaction scores.

If you’re looking for a used car dealer that carries quality cars and offers auto financing, take a look at a company that is committed to providing good cars to people who need credit. Call J.D. Byrider, apply online at GoJDB.com or find the dealer nearest you today.

Looking Back at 2008 – and Ahead at 2009

2008 was an exciting year for J.D. Byrider. We provided auto financing for people who needed to find used cars, continuing to fulfill our 20-year mission.

We didn’t just help people who needed to find used cars, we also gave back to the community in a variety of ways. J.D.Byrider proudly sponsored the American Heart Association’s signature fund-raising event, the Start! Heart Walk, in Indianapolis, helping the organization raise money, increase awareness of heart disease and strokes and encouraging people to lead healthier lifestyles.

We strengthened our relationship with Indiana native Tony Stewart, a racing champion who has been on the J.D. Byrider team since 1997. This year, Tony appeared to support the J.D. Byrider Night of Speed event, helping to promote the American Heart Association and provide much-needed protective equipment for police K-9 programs.

J.D. Byrider also achieved coast-to-coast status in 2008 with the launch of a new location in Visalia, California. With franchisee- and company-owned auto financing and used car dealerships in 30 states, J.D. Byrider is delivering excellent customer service nationwide.

We’re excited about the New Year – during which we’ll be celebrating 20 years in the auto financing business. The J.D. Byrider team thanks all our customers for a great 20 years.
