Tony Stewart Racing: Las Vegas Super Sprint Classic Race Report
Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) continued to show strength early in the 2010 World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series season by earning two spots on the podium Friday night in the Second Annual Las Vegas Super Sprint Classic at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Steve Kinser, driver of the TSR No. 11 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider/Maxim, couldn’t hold off Jason Meyers in the final corner of the 30-lap A-Feature, however, he finished a mere 0.237 seconds behind Meyers to earn his third top-three finish of the 2010 season.
Donny Schatz, driver of the TSR No. 15 Armor All/STP/ParkerStore/J&J, led 26 of the first 27 laps in the main event. After beginning the evening by qualifying fifth in the field of 28 cars, he dominated the six-lap Dash to earn his first pole of 2010. The reigning WoO champion dominated the early portion of the race and stayed in contention through the final corner when the top three headed to the checkers, all with a chance to win.
The TSR teammates continue to rank first and second in the WoO championship standings following the event. Kinser returned to the top position with his runner-up finish and holds a two-point advantage over Schatz. Next up for TSR is its first trip to California for the two-night event at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., on March 5-6.
