Kraig Kinser Heads to Biggest Race on the West Coast
Every time the World of Outlaws (WoO) stars hit the dirt, they are looking to put on a show. The series wraps up its schedule on the West Coast in a big way this week at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. The quarter-mile, high-banked dirt track in northern California plays host to the 56th annual Gold Cup Race of Champions beginning Thursday, and for Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Kraig Kinser, it’s an opportunity to conquer one of the sport’s most historic races.
More than 100 challengers will join Kinser in the three-night Gold Cup. Each hopes to be vying for the $50,000 prize that waits Saturday night’s winner of the 40-lap finale. The Gold Cup format includes two nights of complete racing with the field being divided on Thursday and Friday.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Silver Dollar Speedway, the pit gates open
at 2 p.m. and grandstands open at 5 p.m. Racing is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. For more information on the event, visit Silver Dollar Speedway. Race fans unable to attend this weekend’s race can catch all of the action on DIRTvision.
J.D. Byrider, who celebrates 20 years in the used car business this year, has been a sponsor of Tony Stewart Racing for 12 years. Byrider has also been involved with Tony Stewart’s World of Outlaws Sprint cars since 2001.
